Jeremiah Irwin Obituary Castle Shannon, PA – PITTSBURGH, PA – The Duquesne University community is mourning the tragic loss of Jeremiah Charles Irwin, a U.S. Marine veteran and student, who passed away on March 23, 2025, at the age of 32.
Jeremiah, born on July 8, 1992, was originally from Castle Shannon, PA. He was the beloved son of Cathie (Phil) Wilberg and Edward “Bo” Irwin (Laurie Boggess); a devoted brother to Jordan (Lourdes) Irwin and Baley Irwin; and the loving grandson of Charles and Betty Dick. He was also the cherished partner of Nicole Dunn. Jeremiah was deeply loved by his extended family, including many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edward and Margaret Irwin, as well as his niece, Natalie.
A Life of Service and Dedication
Jeremiah graduated from Keystone Oaks High School in 2010 and went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps for 13 years. After his discharge last year, he transitioned into civilian life and enrolled at Duquesne University, where he was pursuing his passion for history with the goal of becoming a teacher.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Jeremiah had a particular love for hockey, a sport he excelled in during his youth. His dedication to service, education, and his community left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
Celebration of Life Services
To honor Jeremiah’s memory, two celebration of Life events will be held on April 5, 2025:
- Duquesne University Chapel (600 McAnulty Dr, Pittsburgh, PA 15282) from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A prayer service will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by refreshments. - Castle Shannon Fire Hall (3600 Library Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15234) from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
